Membership cards will be issued to new applicants following the completion of the mandatory new member orientation session.

Please allow one week between application completion and the orientation session so membership cards can be prepared and handed out following the orientation session. New applicants are not club members until they have received their membership card.

REMEMBER:  Your membership card is proof of membership and must be displayed at all times while on the Club property.

There is a $25.00 new member administrative joining fee. This is a one time fee provided the member continues to renew their membership each year.

Past members, who have not been a member in the previous calendar year, will be considered new applicants.  They will need to purchase a membership with the Administrative Fee and attend the Orientation Session.

The new member orientation is approximately one hour long. Club range rules and basic policy concerning membership will be reviewed.

The orientation includes a tour of the ranges, at which time range procedures will be reviewed. New members, and members who have let their membership lapse by one year, are required to take the orientation prior to the issuing of a membership card and gate code.

All applicants holding a valid PAL must complete orientation.  With a family membership this means the person(s) who has the PAL must attend. If you have any further questions please visit the clubhouse Wednesday to Sunday 10:00am to 3:00pm or send an email to our Registrar with your questions.

Throughout the year the Club provides members the opportunity to receive training in a variety of Rod and Gun interest areas.

Courses offered include Handloading, Range Safety Officer training with other courses being offered from time to time.  In addition, Discipline Chairs offer opportunities for members to participate in their on going in-house and competitive events.

The annual Youth Camp is held each year starting the last weekend in July. The participants complete the CORE and Canadian Firearms Safety Course programs, receive instruction in First Aid, compass work and other outdoor related courses. On range day the participants have an opportunity to handle firearms associated with each of the five shooting disciplines.

Members are encouraged to check the Club web site calendar for the complete schedule of activities.

The Club has an active group of Range Safety Officers who routinely tour the Club ranges to act as mentors and to ensure Club policy and range rules are being followed.

Certified Range Safety Officers are identified by their Range Safety Officer card or by the Range Safety Officer vest.  Please follow their directions.

After applicants complete their required new member orientation, we encourage the new members to continue their training by taking the Range Safety Officer’s Course.

Each member is considered a Range Officer while using the range.  Members are expected to ensure the proper use of the range and its rules.

New Members are entitled to bring one guest during their first year of membership in the Club.  In the second and subsequent years the Members are permitted to bring a maximum of two guests to the Club.  The cost is $20.00 per adult guest; $2.00 per junior guest (under 18 years) and $2.00 for observers.

Members are responsible for the actions of their guests, and therefore, you should use adjacent benches. If the member is the only one with a firearms license, then the member may only bring one guest.  If a guest does not have a firearms license the guest and the member must use one bench, must take turns shooting and the member must be within arm’s length of their non-licensed guest while the guest is handling a firearm.

Guest registration takes place at the clubhouse during open hours.  The guest will receive a guest pass to be worn while on the Club property.  After registration, the member and guests proceed to the range.  At the range the member signs in their guest(s) under their membership number and indicates payment completed at the clubhouse.

If you bring guests to the Club and the clubhouse is closed, then proceed to the range and self register. The member is to fill out one of the brown envelopes located by the sign in book, place the guest fee in the envelope and place the envelope in the cash container.  The member then signs in their guest in the log book under their membership number. If the member and guests move to another range then the member signs himself and their guests in at the new range indicating where payment was made.

The Canadian Firearms regulations require that individuals applying for the “Authorization to Transport Restricted and Prohibited Firearms” provide proof of membership in an approved shooting club or shooting range.

The proof of membership in the Mission and District Rod and Gun Club is your current year’s membership card.
